Yes,as with all online forums,there are those who enjoy holding forth from their keyboard in a way that they would never dare to do it in real life.

There are people like that no matter where you're looking, online or off. Some people don't know how to express themselves, and have such sad social skills (and bad attitudes) that they don't even try.

yes.as to the why; i think it is because they are looking for attention, and lack the knowledge to provide an intelligent response.
