Here is how you cure a woman from not turning the light on to see if the seat is up or down when she has to go to the bathroom during the night:
Leave the seat down but put the plunger into the toilet letting the handle stick out.
Once she experiences the handle poking her in the *** as she sits down she will never again forget to look.

I am lucky if he remembers to do his pants up at all, so there is no hope winning over the loo seat. It is just not worth the worry

My husband's mother trained him well.... In our 9+ years together, he NEVER has left the toilet seat up!

I'd be mad is he did, but he thankfully doesn't :) He likes to play games on his phone in the bathroom, so he just sits on the toilet.

I'm not married any longer but having lived in a home with males only for 25 years it's no big deal at all.
I do prefer the seat and lid down because it's more sanitary but I choose my battles ;)
