Depends...if I am meeting you for the first time or don't know you well, it's a handshake. If we are close friends or family of choice you get a big hug :)

My mom was very cool and aloof. I never got attention from her.
Dad of great but too involved with his career.
It wasn't til my mom had her "nervous breakdown" and I was sent to an Italian foster family, at first they scared the heck out of me, everyone shouting at everyone else at the table, but they were the most "huggy" people I ever met, didn't matter gender either, hugs were strong and frequent, thus today, tho I haven't a drop of Italian blood, (they made me an "official" Italian) So watch out, I am a VERY huggy kind of guy these days. I'd love to hug people. Especially those I like. Men or Women, it does not matter. Handshake feels uncomfortable to me. But men only handshake. They don't hug.

I love hugs and get them from the kids I work with everyday. I think of it as one of my roles in life, to show I care with a hug to those that need them, and in turn I am blessed by them.

Everyone thinks i'm a hugger.. but I'm really a handshaker. I just don't hug unless someone initiates it. I perfer my personal space. However, when I recieve a hug, it feels nice and I deliver back the warmth.
