Do you have a food dehydrator? Was it worth the money?

I have recently become obsessed with the dehydrated string beans the organic food store sells. Apparently you can also make dried carrots, squash, peppers, plantains, and fruits. Does anyone have a food dehydrator, and do you think it was worth the cost?

YES! I make Jerky. I make honey banana chips and cinnamon apple slices for the kids. I dry my herbs. Recently with an overflow of citrus I sliced oranges and lemons, dried them and sat them in a bowl in the living room.Pretty and the SMELL was wonderful. I've done SO much with mine.

yes and yes.

I bought it to dry herbs I grow. Far less costly than tryign to buy herbs all year. I'd say it paid for itself in one season.

If you like dehydrated fruit and veggies that too would be an excellent, cost effective use. You can buy items when on sale and dehydrate a supply. Just find the items you like best in the dehydrated from and experiment a little ot determien th ebest way to do the dehydration with whatever equipment you purchase.

enjoy.

Best investment ever. I love it i dehydrate tons of fruit and save it for winter, otherwise i wont eat much fruit in winter at all.

I also use it for some herbs that i use in teas and such.

i have one but have yet to use it
as long as you use it a lot, it will pay for itself considering the difference in prices between normal and dehydrated foods
