Do you have a nickname? How did you get it, and who gave it to you?

When I was born I cried so long and loud I lost my voice. For a while after that I would only squeak when I tried to cry. My dad has called me "squeaky" ever since and I'm 37!

When I was young, my nickname was iy-yi. That came from my first attempt to say my own name, Larry

I've had a few, but the most consistant is "Nacho". It's apparently the common nickname in spanish for my real name. I remember being called that since I was four years old. Only people I've just met or business acquaintances (with the exception of my boss) call me by my first name...to everyone else, I'm "Nacho".

I've had 3 nicknames, all from different gals. In high school I was "Teddy Bear", later I was just "Bear", and a recent girlfriend never ever called me by name, only by "Pooh Bear". I'm not sure why/how they came up with those nicknames but it's quite a coincidence isn't it?

My wee brother called me Gonzo because he said i had a big hooter. He eventually inhereted the same unfortunate nasal gene, but to a much worse degree. I revel in calling him pinnochio now, and warning people to duck when he turns round quickly.

I don't have a real nickname, apart from "teacher" which is how my ex-colleagues still call me. But I give funny nicknames to all of my friends, acquaintances and relatives.

Some people call me Kdog. It's embarrassing. I don't know exactly where it came from.

In high school, I had a fake ID that said "Peter Barry Long". People started calling me Pete.

This is a fun question. In H.S., a good friend started calling me "Chippy" - when I asked him why - he said Chippy for Chipmunk - you have little Chipmunk cheeks - good for storing nuts for the winter - they are little round cheeks - and I liked the nickname so it stuck. When I met my H.S. sweetheart, I remember saying, "Oh, your name is Chip, mine is Chippy!" (What a geek I was/AM!)

My college nickname is another story - the Big "V" - I think most can figure it out - I remained a virgin throughout college - which was quite a feat - so... yeah, the Big "V"! LOL!! I wore that name proudly!!

I still prefer Chippy though!

my nephews 21, 18, and 8 call me BOO, It started on halloween when my oldest nephew was 3 and his mom was facing away from me and i was in my costume sneaking up to scare Her when he poked around her and seen me coming and with the cutest voice pulling on his mom "BOO" "BOO". Which we were pretty sure was short for BOOGEY MAN!! LOL it's funny how it has stuck for 18 years and two brothers. The middle nephew was asked once by his G-pa if he knew my real name and his was reply was "BOO G-pa he's your son you should know that"!!

My nickname my brother gave me at school was "Mutant".... I'm not sure why.

My friend Shalto nicknamed me "Fruitcake" .... initially we weren't friends, but his group sat near to my group in the school yard, and every day his mum gave him fruitcake, and he would break it into little pieces and throw it at me.
Every day our groups ended up eeking closer and closer together til we merged and all became friends, but coz he didn't know my name, he called me fruitcake, since I was always the target of his fruitcake. LOL

I was also called "Fred" by a girl who could never remember my name...

and there was a pair of identical twins who used to annoy the hell out of my friend and I... and one day they followed us around saying "whats your name, whats your name, whats your name?"
We gave them fake names so they would shut up and leave us alone. Later, we became friends with them and they learned our real names, but they called us by our fake names til we left school and lost contact!!! Mine was "Claire"

yes, Brownie, I got it from a substitute PE teacher who mispronounced my last name.

My older brother occasionally calls me "short man" as a term of endearment (people who watched "Hey! Arnold" would understand)

I got "Muffins" from my Anime Club because of my food allergy (I can't eat muffins, they thought it was ironic)

"Wasian" from my Korean and Chinese friends over the summer because of my music and movie tastes

I got "belle" added to my name for a little bit by a friend. I have no idea why. He said it had to do with the Southern Belles but I am certainly not one of those.
