Do you have a special seasoning for your Potato Salad?

My Mom always used Celery Seed, the black ones. It really gave it a delicious taste. The more the better.

Yes, I use celery seed too! I generally add a good splash of red wine vinegar when the potatoes are peeled and diced, but still warm. After they have cooled a bit, I add seasoned salt and pepper, celery seed, onion powder, and then add a little mustard (Dijon or otherwise) and a scant amount of mayo. I then toss in hard boiled eggs and chopped dill pickle.

Although I think I want to try MissBebe's and Wordwarrier's recipes too! Sounds yummy!

She makes it with mayonaise, diced onions, pieces of apple, hard boiled eggs cut in small pieces, and pickles also cut in small pieces. Don't remember if she uses pepper though, but it tastes really good. BTW, I will be praying for Pamala not to be a restaurant chef, or for me never getting invited to anywhere where she will be serving her potato salad... LoL Rated: +1Vote for this!
flourlady111	Posted Apr 25th, 2009 at 10:20PM Oh its specialallright. Absolutely no sweet picles or salad dressing. The celery is chopped xtr fine , xtra onions heavy mustard and the best kosher dills you can find. Oh and add a little of the special pickle juice! Rated: +1Vote for this!
