I've started keeping notes on my Ipad.....lines of poetry that come to me.....quotes and song lyrics that I come across that mean something to me...and letters to my kids, to be save and put away for them to find long after I am gone

Both that must be why I'm working towards becoming a writer.I constantly write all kinds of stuff and am lost without a pen.

Absolutely. For years and years. Now it is on my iPad with back-up to i-Cloud. I don't say anything I feel any need to hide.

I keep a couple. One just for writing exercises and ideas I'd like to expand upon, one as a memory/thoughts log to keep me organized and low stress, and one for unsent letters of things I'd like to say but know better.

I like the idea of a diary but I'd always forget to write in it so it would be a waste of time.
