    If you see a person jump into the path of the train. Not that it would do any good, the train couldn't stop fast enough to prevent a fatality.

    Yup. Or if they're stuck in the doors or between cars. Probably hasn't saved many lives. But I always wondered what its purpose was until I looked it up online.

    The subways in Canada, can't move if someone is stuck in the doors. Unless the doors are completely closed, the train won't move. Can't get stuck between cars either. They don't open while the train is in motion, and the train won't move when someone is in between cars.
