Do you know who & what you are?

Seriously, jokes aside. How do you identify yourself? Are you "Joe/Jan Average, 9-5 job, 3 kids and a morgage" or do you identify as someone else. If so WHO and WHAT?

I'm average and it bothers me so much. I don't know if it's because I really do crave attention or if it's 'cause I just want to do something more. I can't help but feel like I was meant to do something great. outside of myself. something meant for the world whether I get the credit for it or not.

ok, well, my life "character" is: 24 year old redhead pale skinned goth girl who is an artist and never can conform to anything when she tries, who is good at writing meaningful things and doing every form of art well whether I've done it before or not, a bipolar girl who has often been tortured for and by the effect of her differences, who strives to just be normal...well as normal as possible--struggling to be successful and achieve her dreams in spite of every thing standing in her way.

Not really. I could say what I do (what I've done), and whom I do (have done) it for - but that does not define me - does it? I could compare myself to others to define myself - but I try not to do that.

I guess the only way I can define myself is a child of God, whom is not special (but hopefully special to someone).

"I am who I am "- the answer maybe the same as mzdivine ! I think what you are asking is related to metacognitive ability ..I am not a specialist, so it I am misunderstanding, please lecture me lol. I try to learn seeing myself objectively...knowing what I know...understanding what i understading...cognition about cognition...
