When I'm with my friends, it doesn't bother me too much. But in large crowds I hate it.

It's not a need at all. However if you have a bubbly personality and are social and outgoing and genuinely like people, it seems to unfold that way. It's never a need though, however some people can see it as that. I don't think I could ever be a wallflower though...when there is fun to be had, I want some!!
