As far as I know (having previously been a lab technician in a pharmaceutical company), the cotton wool is there to keep the pills from mechanical damage (powdering) during transit. To keep them fresh - if they are moisture-sensitive - they use a sachet of moisture-absorbent such as silica gel or rice.

I throw it. Actually, I use it as a makeup wipe when I put on my blush in the morning. Should I be keeping it in the bottle for a reason??? Huh, Huh, HUH??

don't, I throw it away after opening it. I thought the cotton was just in there to protect the pills during shipment. Is there a reason to keep it in there?

Yes, I like to keep the cotton until I finish the product.
