Nobody waits "on line"<br />
except on EP, then they wait on line all day long
I am in line. Not standing on a line; standing in a line up of people.
Looking at your profile pick: "I walk the line."
Sorry - but I would say "I'm on the queue now"! Maybe if I was in Ameica where you guys call a queue a line then I'd say "I'm waiting on line now". Yeah that's the one, that rolls off the tongue more naturally for me.
moi? queue up? never
In line,on line is a New York thing
You're right. Here in NY we always say "on line". Weird. huh? But then, everyone thinks we're weird. Merry Christmas.
I'm always in line
If it's a firing squad, then I won't be waiting in line. If I am trying to buy tickets, then I'll join the queue. if I am at the start of a race, then I'll be waiting on the line for the starting signal. English is wonderfully complex and rich in it's subtleties. mx:))
