it depends on my mood, sometimes I'm kinda down and don't want to interact w/anyone.
I usually do make eye contact with people, it has made for some interesting times. random people befriending me on public transit, etc.

Sometimes, though only if we make eye contact. Other times it will be replaced with a nod of the head or wave or any other acknowledgment.

It depends where it is, if you smile at someone in a city or town they look at you like you have a turd on your head. But if you smile at someone in the countryside they always smile back.
