Yes, I can definitely smell when a house isn't kept clean. I have a very sensitive nose.

I don't really notice, but I think other people probably think mine does. I have a pair of hooded rats, and while they are really very clean animals, they do have an odor. I sometimes notice it when I walk in after a day out. That is when I take their hammock and wash it and replace it with a clean one.

Animals will almost always make a difference when it comes to how a house smells.... I've been living without a dog in my house for about 4 years now and whenever I go into a house which has a dog around, you can tell without seeing it.
