Do you think a MAXIMUM driving age should be imposed?

In the past month, about ten accidents by those over 70 who drive made the evening news in Boston area they were so bad, several plowing into buildings outright. I at least think renewals should be subject to, say, annual driving re-evaluations. I agree it is a waste of time for most drivers.

Is This A Good Question? (1)

Everyone should walk or use mass transit to save the Earth. Cars should be outlawed because they are destroying the planet.

Those using horses, donkeys, mules or the like should be no older than about 60.

I agree that this is a good idea. My reflexes are not what they once were. I freely admit this.

No. That is ageism, to assume that anyone over the age of 70 can't drive. I'm against discrimination and I believe the government shouldn't even be involved.

The periodic testing mentioned by other posters is a good idea, though. That would be a way to ensure safety without treating people unfairly.

i think it should be on a case by case basis. i think when you turn 65, there's absolutely no harm in taking a driving test every year.

Yes I do, but young folks are just as dangerous behind the wheel as older folks are.

As people age they take a longer time to react to situations. It happens to everyone. It would be selfish for an individual to continue to drive if they were deemed unsafe to get behind the wheel. Re-evaluating at certain ages would be a good idea, but a freedom that no one would care to give up if trying to live an independent life.

I think over a certain age drivers should be assessed regularly, say every 5 years. It makes no sense to think that because someone was a competent driver at 18, that they will still be competent 60 years later.

Nope. I think as a person gets older, driving tests should become more frequent as well as having to renew the drivers license. Say an 85 year old can still drive well and see well, why take a license away from someone who is still capable of driving?

as long as a person is mentally and physically fit i dont see a problem. i do think there should be a standard driving age throughout the worl of like 18 or something coz even then i find that people are too immature to drive.
