Absolutely. I think FAR more of it hinges on your work history prior to the period of unemployment.

Do you mean a chance? Absolutely. If the employer believes you have the skills or knowledge or talent to fulfill a need, then it would be bad business to not hire you. The time element would be more important in jobs / industries that change quickly or have changed a lot the past few years.

During tough times. (and we are in them) most employers will make conservative hiring decisions. Why take a chance on someone when several A grade applicants are available. But a few yill go with their gut and give you a go,

Not likely, unless they had an incredible heroic story of overcoming hardship during that period.
