What kind of circus? Because there is always a circus going on ... one in every city and every country. It is a lucrative business. Check the politicians!!!

I think so. Both times I've taken the kids to the circus and each time I've come back to the car to find a flyer under my wiper blade going on about animal cruelty.

Yes pretty lame really. The first time it had lions and the second time it didn't. Just ponies with little monkeys is all I remember. Maybe a camel or too. Wasn't worth it the second time.

Sadly, yes. Because of the animal rights fascists. The same kind of idiots put the old carnival freakshows out of business too and caused a lot of performers to wind up poor and destitute, whereas they had formerly been earning pretty good livings.

Three circuses used to make annual stops in my hometown. One from Mexico, and two based here in the States. The big one was Ringling Brothers, of course. Starting in the late 1990s groups of animal rights protestors began picketing and vandalizing the circuses every time they'd arrive. And each year the groups seemed to get a little bigger, their protests a little more intense. To the point the Mexican circus blew us off completely after 2001 or so and a few years later so did the smaller American circus. Ringling Brothers only comes around about every other year now and never stays more than a day or two (used to stay 5 days).

They will decline to the point where they become rare. When they become rare it will be a very novel event when one comes to a city. So you will find that there may be two of three Curcuses that get big and gather all the best acts and survive.

There was a time when people thought movie thearters would all shut down because of TV and many did shut down but now they have come back.

Considering the accessibility and expansion of TV and the internet, they'll probably be all but extinct within the decade.

I think it is unhealthy entertainment that encourages lack of empathy.
