Do you think dreams have the power to change what happens in your life?

Before people go commenting, I'm not blaming the dream. It just felt like an omen. Maybe I overreacted, but since that dream came around, everything changed.

I had a dream one time that my good friend who I now have a conflict with choked me to death. I wasn't able to move and I was terrified. It was almost as if he ENJOYED strangling me to death and it freaked me out.

After that dream, I ran into him by chance and told him about my dream. After that, it was the last time he hugged me tight and gave me a kiss on the head. He said he would never do that and I wanted to believe him, but things didn't seem right. Since then everything about our relationship changed.

I got increasingly sick and my mental condition worsened to the point I needed to leave school. His life got better with a gf, Fraternity, and a good life. Since then, we broke apart very badly. I don't want to be superstitious, but I just want to know how that one dream turned my life upside down.

Because you believed it, and apparently you invested yourself in that one single thought. Nothing positive could've come out of that situation I'm afraid.

I think having a dream of a your close friend choking you to death and enjoying it would be terrifying to anyone.

That is true, but still it seems you invested yourself too much into the dream, and that subsequently fractured your friendship.

To my understanding, dreams are symbolic messasges from our spiritual guides (which every human has). These guides can't talk to us; instead they give us symbolic visions / pictures, and we have to interpret them - hopefully correctly. One needs to be able to "test your truth" by asking your body (by using a pendulum or muscle-testing), to check if the interpretation you arrive at is correct. Your Body Elemental (Body Spirit - the being who runs your involuntary body workings) knows where you're at and what's in store for you, and IF YOU ASK it, it too can give you messages - like "Yes" and "No", "Maybe" and "I can't answer that" (if you define how it should indicate these first). Its a very useful skill to have; but like most skills, it has to be diligently practised for a time before it becomes integral, (that is, reliably true).

Hence, your dream foresaw what was about to happen and attempted to warn you... then what had been foreseen took place! It wasn't the dream that caused the circumstance, but the impending circumstance that caused the dream to be passed on to you by your guidance.
