As we think of them now, no. But could they be ba<x>sed on something that actually existed and was exaggerated and mytholgized over the years, yes. There are people who have drunk blood, there are people who can't go out into the sunlight with their skin blistering, so a vampire myth might have developed from that. There is a condition (can't remember the name) that makes a person extremely hairy and they end up actually looking like Lon Chaney Jr in THE WOLFMAN, so werewolves might have come partly from that. Etc.
I've met people, and have been in communities where the people still very strongly believe in faeries to this day. One of the beliefs is that they kidnap children, and another is of an old hag who sits on the chests of the men in the community, the men are aware but paralyzed. It will afflict multiple men in the village.
Yes. Some still do...Remember the siren?
Yes. Of course, and they indeed still do exist. :-)
Vampires and Fairys.
I believe some do, like elementals. Others are just stories. Vampirism is part true in that there are peope who like to do it, but all the rest is made-up. There was a race of tiny, but perfectly formed people as skeletal fossilized remains exist. A throw-back to that is primordial dwarfism.
Well, when the Irish people put out saucers of milk at night, someone came and drank it!!!! Obviously it must have been the little people, don't you know.
