With US power declining and Chinese power increasing how else can a balance of power against China be maintained? The alternative is an unchecked China or a China-India power block who could boss the rest of the world around with ease.

Yes, they are. But as the things are going forward, it seems that US and India will go for an alliance.US can not counter China alone. Japan is no position to do it and same is the case with South Korea. Russia is an ally of China. India and Israel have developed strong military relation ship during last decade. Only option for USA here is India. It looks like power blocks of USA, Israel, and India on the one side and Russia, China and Arabs on the other. Please correct me if I am wrong

I agree. With it's own nuclear arsenal and population of 1 billion and it's geographical location it is in a good location to counter China. India is becoming a economic player as well.
