Next to the sagging pants style being worn by young men the trend of giving your child a label saying their parents most likely never graduated high school much less attended any type of extended educational facility other than whats offered in a state run juvenile facility in my opinion is the most **** eyed thing a parent can do .

....the issue with giving someone a 'ghetto' name is people barely know how to pronounce 'white' English names correctly to begin with.
Hell, most people in this country barely know how to spell plain ENglish.
anything ethnic just makes it ten times worse.Like (2)

I think it's horrible. When you name your child you choose their future. The stranger the name, or the more ghetto the name in this case, the less of a chance they have of success.

I'm not good with remembering names, so I have no room to judge or speak.
I think people can name their child whatever they want.
It is up to that person themselves to define themselves as "ghetto" or not. If it's that big of a problem, wouldn't the person, themselves, change their name?
What about all the people who have the same name?
At least when that person gets an intercom call and the person is not a jake, john, matt, ashley, jessica, emily, amanda, ashley, tyler, brian, and many other names, they wouldn't be apart of a mob. I'm just saying.
And what does naming have to do with intelligence?
If naming a child a "unique" name that YOU can't pronounce, and that YOU find "ghetto" makes them "Unintelligent, then what should be said about people who name their child after someone else, just because?
I thought "uniqueness" was intelligence.
So is it wrong to name your child a name others are against?? NO!
Because 9 times out of 10, those people who discriminate against names like that and call it a lack of intelligence don't know diddly about what their names means.
It takes common sense to know that you should read the story behind something before you judge it, that includes peoples names.
Sorry, I had to rant on this one.
It brings back memories of how people are bullied in school and such because of their names and it's not cool. >= (

Life is hard enough. Sticking a kid with a "ghetto" name isn't helping them at all. A name like that on a job application will immediately be disqualified.

I think people should stop trying to think up "unique" names for their kids, it's getting ridiculous. And stop following the trendy names too- I'm sick of seeing "Oliver" and "Ava" everywhere.

Some people might take offense to your using of "ghetto name." I knew what you meant, but that is normal in their culture. So no, I don't see a problem with it. Plus, it gives their teacher a nice heads up.
