Do you think it's fair on eBay that people can set up automatic bidding that goes up when someone puts in a new bid?

I don't think that it's fair. If someone wants to bid on something, then get in on the bidding and don't let the computer do the work for you. Level the playing field.

Of course its fair - and actually an advantage to ALL eBay bidders, including YOU! For example, lets say you find something on eBay that you're willing to bid/pay $50 for, but its newly-listed at a starting bid of $10. You place a bid of $50, because that's what you're willing to pay and think is a good deal. So - do you want your bid to immediately be placed at $50, or would you prefer that it only shows $10, in which case you can buy it for that if no one else bids higher? I think you would prefer to potentially save the $40, wouldn't you???

Sure! I mean if you want something bad enough then bid as if your going to win it! I first think just how much can I afford to get this particular item? Hmmmmm? How bad do I really want/need it? Say it is a really nice camera, the starting bid is $5. You know that this camera is worth at least $400 new! I would honestly bid $300! If I wanted it and had the money, at least make it so if someone else bids against you, then they will pay too! I have bid say $300 and the bidding stopped at $80!!! It's a crap shoot!

If that person is going away for a couple of days and they have placed a maximum bid then to me that is fair enough
