worry is not the question. The quality of YOUR education IS. Im paying tax for this because I want my daughter WELL educated. Im fairly well less concerned about someone who is certifiable because I pay tax for their alternatives ALSO, and less concerned about migrants because I firmly believe they can repeat, or fail because NO ONE is providing ME a fast track except work.

If you were to have a sibling with special needs, such as I do, you would understand where my compassion comes from.

I think the question should be "how do you feel about funding for education being cut in order to fund other areas of government that aren't even necessary?"

My response to that question is that it's bullshit, students of public education are being punished for no good reason.

funding teachers who for atleast 50 years have whittled down classrooms from 50 to maybe today 15 kids, THEN got a para pro provided to do all their busy work, THEN got a life pension in their early 40s for as long as they live, doing LESS work year after year. Cant lie to me, I did not just fall off the turnip truck.

Wow, I'm not talking about generous teacher pensions which aren't the same in even the same in every state, by the way. I'm talking about the funding that goes directly to educating students. Go to any inner city and show me how rosy it is. Dilapidated buildings, outdated textbooks, plus NCLB....public education is on a serious decline.

my education is complete. YOUR education if still matriculating, is being sacrificed. How? Because your course has been standardized, and has been tailored to favor special needs and language challenged. Its going on right now.

True fairness, is how you treat yourself...not how others treat you. Namaste

Education has SHHT NOTHING to do with treating others and EVERYTHING to do with the quality job you will be able to get. Your either fast track, or mainstream, that has been adapted by removal of content and standardized to include language barriers and special needs.

There are many roads...I didn't get a good education...I'm now self employed and enjoy what I do. If you feel like you are blocked on one road, just take another. If this situation is that pressing to you..I'd say you found your "job"...at least for the moment. Best wishes.

    We have immigrants.
    I had a good education.
    So did my parents.
    So did my friends.
    So does my daughter.
    Irrelevant subject.

your comment is irrelevant for many reasons. #1 You neither live here, or were educated in the time frame. #2 you may or may not live in an area that 20 years ago had a hispanic population of 8 percent, that in a few years swelled to over 50 percent, and then been forced to pay for the majority of them an assisted or free ride. Your comment is not relevant, because it does not fit with THIS local reality. They also devistated the local economy as well, when jobs left, they moved away, to heck with mortgages, auto contracts, and leases. Who paid? everyone else..

not having a strong basic education is deadly to humanity- having basic education and then expanding on it is more in the hands of personal choice

its my responsibility to educate my daughter. Its NOT my responsibility to educate the kids of people who continue to pour in here and did not finance the benefits, NOR to educate for free schollars abroad.
