Depends. If you walk into a room and just start talking and expect everyone to stop what they are doing to give you their full attention, yes that is strange. If you solicit their attention and get to the point, they should not look away and start doing other things, that would be rude. For me, I have too many people that start converstations before I can even see them entering my office, I don't look up or speak, that gets their attention, I finish my email or whatever I'm doing then I say, "can I help you", do you find this behaivor rude?

I wouldn't expect anyone to do the first one. lol But if your trying to tell someone something, And you came to their house to specifically tell them something and they just look at the tv and nod I think that is soo rude.

Yes, I find it maddening. In my opinion, this is due to extreme shyness or so to a total hypocrisy .... In one case we sympathize, in either case ..... riotgun ... lol

No, I do not think it is strange, like me, you want a person to look you in the eye, when you are talking to them, if they avoid eye contact then it often feels that you are not interactin with an honest person, there is nothing weird or strangeabout your desire for a person to look you in the eye.

Its not strange, I want people to do it, people who don't are shady and disrespectful.

Not strange, just not very empathetic. I have trouble looking people in the eye when I'm talking to them because I can be pretty introverted and unsure of myself.

Yeah but I was trying to tell this person something important and they were just watching the television and nodding, probably not even listening to me when I was talking. Im not asking them to look me in the eye but the occasional glance so I know they were listening would have been nice. lol I understand what you mean though.

Well that is different. If it's a longer conversation, I ask people to turn off the television or iPod or put down the book. If that's a problem for them, I find that the friendship/relationship is probably nearing its sell-by date.
