no, and its not meant to "help" its meant for punishment. most convicts come out of jail more corrupt than they went in.

Yes it helps criminals learn new skills, like how not to get caught next time.

In some cases yes, but if someone is innocent and put in jail then no because they have no reason to be there in the first place. And more innocent people get put in jail these days than the ones who are truly guilty.

Jail makes **** worse. A lot worse. I dont know anybody who it has had a positive effect on, aside from making them do anything they can to keep from going back.

suppose to be both punishment and therapeutically but, is does not work very well, the number of re incidence is very big, some people never learn.
I do work for the forensic field and... is hard.
