Do you think Mark Sanford should resign as Governor of South Carolina and why?

Gov. Sanford disappeared from his office for several days .The lieutenant governor, other fellow lawmakers and even his wife said they didn't know where he was, leading critics to question who was in charge of South Carolina. It turned out he was in Argentina visiting his mistress.

Update: Fox News has apologized for identifying Sanford as a Democrat, hehehe , FoxNews , who knew ?

Yes. Not because he cheated on his wife as that is an intensely person issue I don't think should be brought into someone's professional life. He should resign because he 'abandoned his post'. This is inexcusable in anyone. If you just didn't show up to work for a couple of days to jet down to Argentina for ANY reason you wouldn't need to resign because you would already have been fired.

I think he should be fired! He disappeared on Fathers Day Weekend and he is the Governor! Public officials should be held to a higher standard. At the very least resign.

I do, because he has consistently presented himself as an emblem of conservative values, and called for Clinton to resign in the same situation. As one of the few liberals in South Carolina, I admit that I want him out. I don't want a liar as our representative.

Yes, if he can't be honest at home, how can he be trusted on the job!

I think it is his bad luck to be Governor of SC.
If he was governor of 45 other states he would be ok.
SC however may not let him by with cheating on his wife.
If his wife had stood by his side he would maybe have a chance, but she ain't no Hilliary Clinton lol.

I think if he don't resign, he will at the very least be serving his last term.

I think he should resign his office, citizenship, et al and go to Argentina and live there. While he is at it he can learn to tango, it's very sexy.

I think Mr Sanford ought to do what he wanted Bill Clinton to do during the Monica Lewinsky affair.

He should join the democratic party.

Then the left wing mainstream media would rush
to his aid & kill this story.

No, why bother? Hes been doing this the entire time he has been in office, and now it wont be long before someone else is elected. I live in south carolina, and i dont think it matters whether or not he finshes his term as gov. there is no need to change governors at this time. At least we dont have to worry about him being pres of the us.

He needs to resign, most definitely. It doesn't matter their freakin political affiliation, all politicians are cheaters. No group is any better than the other.

If he left with the understanding that he was on vacation and his duties were covered by others then no he should not resign. If he'd just taken off and had made no arrangements to run the state then he should be fired. Otherwise he just went off and had relations with a woman not his wife and that's a personal issue for his wife to deal with not the public and not his office. Male Caucasian politicians are well known for their infedelity so I don't see the big deal about just another unfaithful politically involved caucasian man.
