Kings and queens cannot do anything in the rapidly changed republics. However, they can sit there, with less subsidies, to represent the old values of the countries. The Kings of Japan, Cambodia and Thailand have made good reconciliary arrangements among political parties.

Tourists spend to see the grandour we pay for. Swings and roundabouts really, but show rather than achieving anything essential.
