It's a litle annoying sure - but I think when you're online you don't have the benefit of voice tone, facial ex
pressions and body language, so lol sort of covers that for things that might otherwise be misconstrued as serious or b1tchy. Like (3)

I find smileys one way to express myself but usually I try to get emotion across through the words and tone in my writing.

Totally..Texted a friend of mine the other day,saying,"What are you up to,owt good?"
They replied,"At the market buying veg,LOL!"....I could just picture them wandering from stall to stall,laughing out loud at the broccoli and turnips..
