Technology has played a big role in this day of age when it comes to children who are growing up.
Most parents I know gives the kid a toy so he or she can be alone playing in the room.

Every generation has gotten worse from what I've noticed, where will it all end? We didn't have nearly as much disposable income when I was young as the people do now. The idea of every family member having a phone of their own, much less a cell phone and the service charges would have been ludicrous when I was a kid, even for rich kids. The teen girls got a princess phone, the rich ones had a private line for their princess phone.
