Do you think subconscious manipulation has become a normal mode of interpersonal communication?

By which I mean, do you believe that a substantial portion of the population are actively engaged in it at a conscious level?
If not, can you imagine a time in the future when you might believe this to be the case?

As far as I understand it, this sub- and unconscious manipulation has been going on between humans for millenia. Of course the average person (particularly Western society) usually has no idea of the extent of this, if it even occurs to them that its happening at all. You really only become aware of its ramifications when you hunt down and research the details of karmic entanglements.

I believe that its one of the dishonesties of human behaviour that will have to go, if we are to experience the predicted "Golden Age" of mankind's existance on the planet.

I don't know where a heard this but someone once told me that unconscious consumers are the best kind. meaning that they are most susceptible to persuasion, so I'd say subconscious communication is more common than conscious.

Communication cues below our normal consciousness have always been a part of our communication. The trick is to bring them into your awareness - cognitive consciousness. A person's smell. The twitch of an eye, how they use their hands, face; their posture. "Manipulation" is not necessarily bad, it simply is. All communication, even a baby's cry, is an attempt to manipulate your surroundings (feed me; change me, I did a poopie). Voice tone, vocalizations that are not words, movement, all of these are normal modes of communication and are used to elicit (manipulate) a response.

No, it isn't new.

no, and if it is you are not with straight and honest people. I would suggest that you stop thinking like this and work at communicating honestly and openly with everyone you meet. Transparancy is the key to a solid successful life. Duana
