No one shoujld be allowed to use violence on anyone else .. except to protect from violence itself, and even then only the minimum amount required when lesser means haev failed and there are no other options.

Corporal punishment has been illegal in UK schools since the use of the cane was outlawed in 1987. Its abolition has been cited as the reason for declining standards of classroom behaviour ever since, and I think there's a strong argument for reinstating it for its deterrent value as the 'ultimate sanction'.

Kids nowadays would probably be better behaved if there were physical repercussions for being an a**hole. I don't think beating anyone or anything is right... But a quick jab to set the tone, keeps sassy urchins in line.
