Why not? As a female veteran, NOT ALLOWED to be in active combat, your question sounds like asking should female veterans get the same benefits as male veterans

What kind of benefits? GI Bil sure. VA disability pay? to an extent.

I believe someone who did 4 years and never saw combat and got out but gets paid 100% disability from the VA due to surgery they needed because they were injured playing football is a load of crap. they will get paid $2500 a month for the rest of their life because they were injured playing a sport. people get out of the service for things like that all of the time believe it or not.

while on the other side of the coin you have someone who saw combat and did 2-4 deployments and got out with a medical discharge at a 90% rate and suffers from PTSD and has problems finding work who gets paid about $1000 less than the guy who never stepped foot over seas and got injured playing a sport.

i personally do not believe non combat vets should be eligible for 100% disability from the VA and its a slap in the face to those who have truly earned that rating.

i did 9 years in the Marines and 4 combat deployments. i was medically retired and i am considered 90% disabled. i was an instructor in a non infantry unit for my last 4 years and saw countless marines get hurt during training just to receive a medical discharge and a 100% rating just because they couldn't handle the training. people that never stepped foot over seas, never went out on patrol and watched one of their buddies die in front of them, never had their truck hit by an IED, and never truly put their life on the line for this country.

oh but they signed the contract just like me so we are booth the same right?

Also i can't even count how many times i have seen non combat vets who apparently have PTSD or try to get tested for TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury). All people who never stepped foot over seas. I would love to know how a 25 year old male or female gets PTSD (except for rape victims) from sitting behind a desk or sitting in a warehouse all day.

service is service, 25 years ago I would have said combat should have more!!! but I never took my VA benefits , too much gov. control. so make the board even, we all have our own hell.

Best Answer

Yes! If they were called into combat they would do so just like those who did. You join to do whatever is necessary to serve your country honorably.
