Looks like I'm going to have to explain myself before someone snaps my head off.
I was referring to the 21st of December. People who think the world is going to end, so they end up doing bad things.

possible, the closer we get to the 21st there may be people who end their lives due to this, it's very sad, the shooter was the first causalty, it's just too bad that it took 27 souls to cure his pain.

People have allowed themselves to become very frightened and are looking to each other for answers and comfort. But some people have become panicked by the Mayan prediction and allowed their fears to take over and their fear becomes infectious. Pretty soon, before we know it everybody is running around waving their arms and shouting "the sky is falling, the sky is falling"!
Since the terrible tragedy that just occurred in your country a lot of people seem to think that there's a connection. I wondered myself if the perpetrator might have had some misguided thoughts along the lines you suggested, but who knows and who will never know? It's fruitless dwelling on that. The point is, we can all get hysterical and run around crazy, or we can wait and see.
But whether we panic or be calm, the truth is that we can't do a lot no matter what happens. We are so puny and insignificant compared in this great universe of ours, nothing we do can make a lot of difference if the prediction were to be true.
What we CAN do though, is to calm down, take care of each other by being kinder to each other and be sensible and get on with life. And we can hope everybody who's so scared is wrong.
