Do you think the art of writing is becoming a lost art?

With the 'Texting Age' I think the art of writing is becoming a lost art. With all of the shortened text, & abbreviations, noone takes time out to actually think about what they want to say anymore since the early '1900's'. For Christmas, I'm getting everyone I know a stationary set, and I'm going to address the first envelope and hope I get a 'Thank You' note from them!

I very much agree with you. I think part of it is the fast pace our lives have taken.
I find it interesting that due to text abbreviations, people are losing the ability to spell.

Good luck with the thank you notes. I think it would be interesting to know the results.

I love the gift idea!

I totally agree with you!

The art of a good handwritten letter is sadly going down the drain!...No wonder children cannot write!

On the computer,I have learnt, there is a thing called spellcheck!...I don't need is so I do not know where it is!

Oh definetely! I can't actually remember the last time I wrote a letter to somebody... It just seems so much easier to pick up your mobile and drop someone a text or even just to email. I totally agree. :)

Certainly..who writes a letter with an over priced stamp, wait for the mail to be delivered..nah. Email is pushing the post office out of business. Plus we have free e-mail greeting cards. sad huh?

Abso-friggin-lutely!! Today's "journalists" can't even put together a grammatically correct sentence, and they make their living off language. Good luck getting that note, you'll probably just get a text, and they'll probably never use the paper aside from scratch paper.

I write everything out longhand, unless it's an e-mail or something like that.

well taking the time to write is being strained.

but as long as humans feel , there will be those who write. I think the technology may be helping more to know the joy of writing, but the humbling knowledge of realising they may not be the center of a larger universe as they could have thought in their mind.

younger folks especially are shocked when everyone doesn't clamor to praise something they've written.

welcome to the world, and enjoy what gifts you have in it.

ever wonder how so many can write good erotica :-)

we are sexual beings.
