Grew up like that , never knew what running water was like in the house and hot running water was pie in the sky. Father was a sick weirdo who kept us isolated in remote arias in old travel trailers. Water came from five gallon cans two liter soda bottles in milk crates etc.

You've perhaps seen western where people would go to a public bath house? Maybe, MAYBE once a month.This water in this HUGE tub was used over and over. They survived.

I've done it before, and often visit communities where that's life. You spend a lot more time in your day to get water, heat water, etc.
