There are so many causes out there competing for our time and money, that compassion fatigue has set in at a societal level. Especially with so much corruption news and government misconduct stories. People are burning out, depression is common, and many seem to just manage to get through a day barely. We don't have a lot of coping skills, so violence and drugs are common too often. Takes a LOT of spiritual skills now...
