Even though you put the question to singles with no kids, as a single with one kiddo, I don't think it's fair either. I believe in fair. I would, for example, ask if I could trade a shift with you, so I could make a birthday event or something like that, but I don't think it's fair for someone to "tell" you that you have to cover for me. But if you had something you wanted me to cover you for, I think you should be able to ask me and me try to help you out too.

Yes, I have experienced this before too.
As a single, child-free person, I was always the "go-to guy" when it came to working extra shifts, working on holidays, coming in to work for someone who had to leave because of a child emergency, etc.
It sucked, but I tried to be understanding and think of the children. :l

I had my children late in life, mid 30s and it was difficult at work because of this issue. What priorities are there? I worked part time, earned less money. Did not take blocks of holidays, as I kept those days for emergencies if my children were ill. Came in on time and left on time like the rest of them. No idea why they thought I was getting priority, really interested to know what these are.

as a single man (who would love kids) it gets annoying when everyone around you has them and gets all the help they want. im last place on housing lists and people .
