Haha. I'm a vegetarian and I don't like eggs or sugary/sweet stuff, so that leaves me with toast, bagels, and fried potatoes in the "breakfast food" category. Ahh, carbs!

Sorry ma'am, I love it. Fresh fruit, low fat yogurt, juices, scrambled eggs, coffee etc...

I have traveled for business overseas and have seen lunch meats, bread and cheese as a part of the breakfast buffet (Netherlands). In Japan, they ate hot food that I would consider as a lunch or dinner item. They had hot fish, vegetables etc... for breakfast.

Grits are not necessarily traditional, as they are originally Native American food and were not served for breakfast. I do eat those, as well as oatmeal, since it is of Scottish origin. I do eat a lot of non-traditional; burritos, tamales, frijoles, etc.

I think most of those things are common in other countries I mentioned grits, biscuits and white gravy because they seem to be a strictly American thing.

I'm too uncultured to really know what other countries eat for breakfast so I can't compare in that sense. However, a lot of traditional American breakfasts are too heavy for me to eat first thing in the morning, like pancakes, or a lot of sausages and bacon.

If I eat breakfast, i stick with cereal or fruit, and save the other kinds for lunch or dinner, if I'm in the mood.
