it still wants a credit card but we already paid for it and we dont have a credit card

    Microsoft (or Micro$soft) are evil, they deliberately confuse and decline credit cards so they can charge you extra. Because each attempt costs $2, so they repeatedly say it didn't work error and charge $2, after 2 or 3 goes it works and you can buy your membership.
