Does anyone else's computer just decide to reboot when you're in the middle of something?

the computer is less than a month old, so I don't know if it's dirty or not...
This last time it did it, I'm pretty sure it was to finish installing an update or something, but it never asked if I wanted to reboot now or wait til later... didn't even warn me, just shut all my programs down and rebooted...

No. I've always used a Mac of one sort or another.

to be on the safe side; save all your work on cds. in November 2004, I bought a computer, in New year's eve that year, my computer clashed so we had to insert new hard drive. maybe you should go to the computer store and tell them about it.

I think you have too much dust/dirt inside of your computer and it is over-heating. A little dust in the CPU fan can make quite a difference in temperature.

Does it do it when you run a particular program? If s it could be a corrupt file. It could be over heating if it does it at random. My laptop actually works better when it's a little warm! I did have a problem with a start up file not long ago, it was a data file and as soon as the program tried to read it my computer shut down. That was a big problem. I only had about 30 seconds after I switched on to find the corrupt file or the computer switched off again. I got it eventually. I think it was yahoo Instant messenger and as that tends to have problems anyway I uninstalled it. I often run task manager and check to see what files are running and some are in memory but not doing anything as soon as they do you get a reboot or the thing switches off; or worse the BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH! Now that one is hard to fix! lol You can run Task manager usually by pressing CTRL-ALT-DEL together or right click your task bar and click task manager. A weird problem is when Task manager works but no menus come up. I had that for months and Microsoft sent me to a site that wanted to charge a lot of money to fix the problem. It turned out it has a minimal mode and you just click the border and it goes back to normal.

One final tip, as I write this Google Chrome is checking my spelling; now that is cool! It's a shame it can't spell Google; I shall have to add it to it's dictionary!
