Does anyone feel like this?

When I apply to jobs and don't get answers (I've been waiting 2 months to hear from Express even though I know I didn't get it.) I kind of feel like when they read my application and see where I am from (Camden, NJ) and my name and my GED. I feel like they write me off. And I am not applying to some fast food store I am applying to Express and Nordstroms. I've even got mail from Nordstroms saying I didnt get as a barista!

I am so tired of saying "Hey we are in a recession. No one is hiring!" or "Maybe they aren't looking for anyone." I've applied to over 70 jobs this year and I am sick of redoing the applications over and over again every couple of months.

We live in a rigidly capitalist society-there are only so many jobs and so many more unemployed people. It's not easy getting a job-the competition is fierce (even for crappy jobs). It all frigging sux arse :).

To you and anyone else, applying for a job by filling out an application is unlikely to get you anywhere. Do a little research on the web - you'll find that most people get jobs through someone they know. Yep, you get a job through connections. It's called networking.

Do you have a resume? Most employers would like to see what you've accomplished, how you write, format, etc.

Make sure that your social media life doesn't sink you. 45% of employers use various methods to check your background, but Facebook, Twitter, EP, etc. are becoming simple ways for employers to knock candidates out of the race. Don't mention sex, drugs, or illegal behavior. No compromising pictures. No cursing. Services, like SPOKEO, can put together "an overview" of your social media habits for two bucks a month. Formal background checks are expensive, and there are cheap alternatives.

Good luck. You're not alone. I was laid off in March and have been fighting an uphill battle. People I know have been out of work for over a year. Play to your strengths.

Yes,same here..You have applied around 70 jobs,i have done more than 100 and all the time, the reply comes as "no".. I perfectly understand how does it feels, hun. Do some amendments on your resume, believe me,it's very bad to be very honest in todays world. :( Good luck, sweet.

its not because of a G.E.D, honestly it is because of the economy. my husband has a good resume and is very experienced in his field. hes files tons of aps. too in person and on line. many times he hasnt even got a relpy back. it is the economy.

I wish you luck as I'm having the same issues on trying to even obtain a part time job. It's tough all over, esp. when your competition are bankers, accountants and the like.

Don’t lie on your application! We do check out the information you provide before we hire you. If we see that you’ve lied, you won’t get hired.
If you do ever get hired – show up on time and work! I’ve noticed that many of the people hired lately don’t want to put forth any effort on the job. It seems that they only want to get paid. Some even say that they’ll only work as hard as they’re paid. They say that if they’re paid more, they’ll work a bit harder.
