Not at all. It makes you regret having done it later in life when you have to wear those scars THAT YOU CAUSED for the rest of your life.

Yes it does. The brain releases a chemical that makes you feel happy and gives you temporary relief.
All the other people don't know what they're talking about. I am a self-harmer and still am today.

for some reason i feel your question is sarcastic.. but i will explain anyway, cutting does not help depression, it could be caused by depression actually.. it does not help.. but under a certain state of mind caused by lack of certain chemicals in the brain it seems like the right thing to do.. just like binge eating, suicide, smoking and other very bad things that we do although they are wrong!

No. It does nothing of the sort. People say it "let's the pain out. Well, if that's the case why not drain all blood out and be done with pain?

People who do it carry on abut it as if it' some secret socety with secret benefits. All they get is pain, scars and eventualy hospitals who hate these self inflicted types. They do have real work to do.

You cut? You deal with it , all the wounds, the blood, the scars, the shame and all the rest. I am sick to death of trying to talk to such people in a generous and kind way as they have no intention of changing at all. I truly think it is their way of attention seeking as it is usually young girls who do it and are afraid to tell their parents they have depression.

It is depression, just an external way of showing it as we do that to ourselves inside. Most are brighter than that and seek medical help before they descend to that base level. I mean, realy, why not cut a leg off? That'll let the pain out, right? Stupidity.

If the alternative is suicide then yes. In the long run, no.

It helps a person feel in control of something and with the added pain, it causes a sort of release.

Wouldn't you get depressed on how you're going to clear up all of those cut marks?

Depression is a state of mind and being. Cutting does not alleviate that state; pain does not and cannot make you happy.

No. It doesn't. How do you think it does? How would self-mutilation help someone? Really help them? It doesn't nor will it ever.

I think it doesn't. One would just hurt himself, and for what? For other people bad behavior?
