Resolved Question

There was a savings bank in Iceland called Icesave. It went down. The government of Iceland then took over the saving accounts (mostly Dutch and Belgian savings). That government said it would bring back the savings with taxes. But there are so few people in that country that every citizen would have to part with half of it's income just to pay those taxes. And not for a couple of years, but for 2 entire generations!

The Dutch state has already paid every person and organisation who had money there up to 100.000 euro each. The organisations that lost their money also include schools, hospitals, provincial governments etc. That means Dutch taxpayers money. Fortunately, Holland can handle it (the treasury is even making huge profits from nationalised banks).

Big question: who should pay for the loss of money, the citizens of Iceland or the citizens of Holland?
