For me? Most def! I try to avoid controversial topics whenever I can...I HATE to see people being argumentative. Sometimes people don't agree with one another and they blast off with their words...No need for that...I can only TRY to be a mediator with my words...but only when it's my business...
BUT, we, as human beings, are all different and have different opinions. Please, let's respects each other's opinions.

If it starts an interesting debate, it's all good. Unfortunately, people will resort to blocking instead of presenting clear arguments all too ofen.

The same is done with religion. Block out anything that remotely disagrees with your believes, and the world is just peachy. It's a fantasy people choose to live in, but they don't realize that they are only hurting their cause.

Yes. What bothers me even more is when I don't even bring up something controversial and people start arguing. I once started a four hour argument just by telling my uncles how school had gone that year. They fought about Obama and the education in our country and in the world-until they weren't even arguing about education anymore.

no I don't really mind because people are just expressing their views. Arguments are healthy. I'd be worried if people didn't have arguments. But I don't really like it how people just insult each other because they don't agree on something

So true. Personally, i try to avoid answering controversial topics in other not to offend people with my opinions. But there are people on ep who feel that they must answer every question and that we must accept their answer as a fact. Thats just plain wrong :)

I have disagreed with many people, and ended up being blocked, but I have never expected anyone to take my opinions as facts. I like logical debate, but some people are to immature to handle that.

If we could do that Polygamy would be legal, **********, necrophilia, all would be illegal, because we need to respect them. Gay marriage, goat marriage, pie marriage would all be legal because we need to respect them. Wars would virtually end, but there is a bad part to ending wars. Wars are sometimes started for a just cause, if nobody profits from wars, then their will be no wars, and no cause to fight for anything, and there would be slaves again. I think it's okay to respect others peoples opinions, to a degree, but somethings are worth arguing over.

Honey, I'm one of the kings of asking controversial questions, and the hate and disagreement WILL come, and you have to deal with it, or just ignore it.
Now, if the arguments are going on among only the people who I answer, then it definitely doesn't matter to me. I just let 'em war on.Like (1)

I think that if you're gonna ask a controversial question, you should expect some people to make a big deal out of it and start hi-jacking the thread. lol That's just human nature for some.
