...when you hear someone tell you that you'll be accountable for every utterance that comes from your mouth?

IF you believe in God, we are accountable for every thought and utterance BUT that is why I am thankful that God sent Jesus to take our place and that we are forgiven because I would hate to think what God would say to me otherwise - whew!!

We all have to balance our human rights and responsiblities. That comes with the territory. Is this person being unreasonable? or expecting perfection? because they're not going to get it, frankly.

Can't say I've heard that one yet, even thinking back on all the insane sh1t my parents used to say...

But then again, I haven't heard a good joke like that in awhile either. Those kinds of remarks are just ridiculous. What does this mean, exactly? That my cable bill goes up? I'll be charged $5 per word?

"What accounting? I just declared moral bankruptcy mothafu(kahhhh......"

I was delighted by that discovery many years ago.... it meant that if I am responsible for everything I think say and do...then I have a freedom and great power !!to control everything I say think and do...

That power can bring you the world ...and it absolutely does... you create your own reality...so you can change it any time you like....and your life then becomes merely a choice...and you can blame others for how it turns out but you are still responsible for it...no matter what...

Yes it does because it's a stupid statement. People say all sorts of things and a lot of the time others aren't even paying attention. I'd say a person like that has some sort of adgenda and their probably fairly self rightious.

It doesn't bother me. If it did, I would find myself being a hypocrite.

I admire him who has such an accurate knowledge, but he better says it only to himself.

What's wrong with accepting responsibility for what you say?

Will God overlook our weaknesses?

No it does not bother me to know that I am accountable for anything I say. As humans we will make mistakes.Because we have a brain, we are intelligent enough to know what we are saying. Because we have a heart we should be mindful of how we can hurt others. Because we are spiritual, we should know when to ask for forgiveness.

Not at all. No one has ever said that to me but it wouldn't bother me if they said it.

When my words hurt someone without my intent, it bothers me. Not concerned about some accounting in an unverified afterlife though.

I thought this was common sense? Who else would be accountable for my words or actions?

It doesn't bother me because it is in the Bible. It's a warning. A warning because the Author cares about you. Have you ever noticed that people who are honest are often ridiculed or shunned? Because they do not say pleasing things? I don't go around telling people they will be held accountable for every word spoken, deed done or thought. Maybe I should. I do remind people that at the end of the day the only person I am accountable for is myself. Meaning what I have said and done and handled situations. What DOES bother me is when people use foul language and especially the Lord's name in vain. Maybe you have some advice for me. How can I let people know it really offends me without offending them?
