Does Learning happen in Online Communities?

Dear all :)

I'm doing some academic research on whether learning happens in online communities. I was wondering if any of you could take a few minutes and answer these questions for me:

1. How long ago was it when you first started getting involved in the community?

2. Why did you first get involved in the community?

3. How often do you participate/enter the website?

4. How do you participate in the community?

5. What did you gain from being involved in this community?

6. Do you think you have learned something within/from the community?

7. When did you realize that you were learning?

8. Do you believe you have taught something within the community?

9. Do you believe you have brought knowledge to the community?

10. In your opinion, what is the contribution of Information Communication Technology (ICT) to learning communities, if any?

11. What have been the most positive aspects of getting involved in this community?

Thx

I have been on here short time about 21/2 months. I am on here daily. Yea I have learned a lot of interesting facts, not just about mental illness ( from which I suffer), but Politics, History and events. This community offers support and friendship and understanding. I feel that I have helped others learn about certain things. I am not intelligent per say, but I am good with emotions and how to cope with certain situations. With age comes wisdom, because you have been through so many different situations that you may be able to guide some one in the right direction or give them sound advice. I have gained a sense of well being from joining this site. It has benefited me in so many ways. I feel better about myself and I feel apart of something. I don't feel all alone any more.

By the way, what the hell is ICT? Is your question only for those who understand internet jargon or was it intended for everyone?
Thx
