Yes, a little. I think it's also a way to prevent someone from fainting and hitting their head.

No, it just gives the other person more time to run in case they want to choke you.

Thank you. And No, I don't think it makes you more prepared to HEAR it but I think you are less likely to be injured if you faint or collapse upon hearing the news. (As a lot of people are known to do.) !! Thanks this is an interesting question!

Possibly not, but if it's news that might make me FALL down, it's safer to be sitting. ;)

It would avoid many people from hitting their head on the floor as hard as if they were standing up

I prefer hearing it while standing up...if anything my fist is ready... joke ;)

I believe it is better if a person is sitting then standing while receiving bad news.

It doesn't help at all, it is actually worse!
I prefer to hear the bad news quickly while I'm standing without any preparations or introductions, just say it to me and let me be done with it!

Yeah, that's how I feel too. I get aggravated when people drag it out and ask me to sit first.

It can't hurt. Besides resting is better than trying to stand up when someone is hitting you with bad news.
