No stereotypes exist because of our lack of knowledge and awareness about different cultures and people.

but ot be aware of of different cultures would mean being aware of their mindsets thier attitudes, how they see things which would be classed as a stereotype?

Best Answer

Not exactly. Stereotype arises when we have limited knowledge or something or someone. Like one may think that there are tigers and snakes roaming around the streets in India or that the British drink tea everyday, none of which is actually true. Its because we have heard or read something about a certain place or people and we make a general assumption about it without knowing the complete facts or going to that place or meeting the people or experiencing it for ourselves. Having different cultures gives us a good variety on this planet. Because there are different kinds of people living in different climates and countries who like to express things differently. So having different cultures is not the problem. The problem arises when we start judging or biasing others with our limited intelligence and knowledge.
