    I lose weight when upset or stressed because I lose my appetite.

    Well, I'd think that biologically stress would speed up your metabolism and use more energy so maybe lose a bit.. but if you eat more ie: "comfort food" then weight is going up for sure

    It can do either one. I've lost a great deal of weight during a summer from being stressed and have gained weight from stress (although it was gained much slower during stress than lost during stress).
