It let's the good rays in for a gradual safe tan and blocks the harmful UV rays which burn.

Yea, you'll not tan much either... but some will get through, so slow tanning!

My belief is that it blocks the sun for a period of time shown by the factor therefore up to that time no tan or burn. Be careful anyway with ozone depletion it is stronger.

in the summer i pile and pile that stuff on so I`m not really sure (i have never had a tan) even if i dont have any on i just burn until i get blisters on my face (yes it has happened) but i think if you have a low number it stops you from getting burnt so you might get a tan

It also prevents your body from absorbing much-needed vitamin D....do extensive research before buying into the whole "the sun is evil" hype...I always suggest following the animals' example...they lie in the sun...and when it gets too hot, they get out of the sun....

We need the sun. Plain and simple.

(and sunscreens are manufactured using carcinogenic ingredients)
Do your research, (and be sure to check who is funding said research) and decide what feels right to you.
Personally, I don't use it, unless I'm going to be out in the glaring sun for hours on end....
